Yin & Pins

Slow down, soften, and let your nervous system exhale before the holiday season in this deeply restorative Yin & Pins experience. During this practice, students rest in a series of gentle postures, held for a few minutes each and supported by props for comfort. Students may choose to receive acupuncture from Dr. Alexis Angell, Lic. Ac., to support the body’s rest and rejuvenation. The practice closes with an extended savasana, with acupuncture needles placed in the forearms, legs (these points are especially effective at restoring a sense of equilibrium) and ears (auricular points have a direct calming effect on the central nervous system) to encourage deep relaxation and return the nervous system to a state of balance. No experience necessary—just come as you are.

What is Yin (Yoga)?

Rooted in both Indian and Chinese traditions and philosophies, the modern physical practice of Yin Yoga is slow, meditative, and focuses on long-held, passive postures targeting the body’s deep connective tissues. During a Yin Yoga practice, postures are typically held for 2 to 7 minutes at a mild to moderate sensation, which is said to improve mobility and joint health and hydrate the body’s tissues. This is a time to embrace slowness, stillness, and reconnect with yourself.

What is Pin (Acupuncture)?

Acupuncture uses sterile, ultra-fine, single-use needles placed at specific points on the body to stimulate the body's natural healing response. It increases blood flow to help reduce inflammation and nourish tissues. It also helps shift the nervous system out of "fight or flight" (sympathetic) mode and into "rest and digest" (parasympathetic) mode. By supporting the body's return to balance, acupuncture encourages the release of endorphins and other feel-good chemicals. Paired with the stillness of yin yoga, acupuncture can deepen your practice, helping you settle into savasana and leave feeling grounded and restored.
